Please help glitterismyforte.tumblr.com get to DCI!!

I just discovered her post and I’ve been trying to reblog it and put it here but Tumblr isn’t cooperating. Here’s the post:

So it’s finally come down to that moment where I become yet another DCI hopeful trying to raise money for tour/camp fees.  As of this moment I have been offered a contract with the Boston Crusaders and i’m working harder than ever to keep my dream running.  Unfortunately, my dream costs a lot of cash.  I managed to save about $300 dollars on my own this past year (I don’t have a job and I don’t get an allowance, I just save what I can), but my shoebox of DCI funds is almost empty.  Camp fees, registration fees, and plane tickets are running me dry.  I have a camp at the end of this month that is out of state, so I’m going to have to fly there.  This whole camp alone is burning a hole in my pocket.

But there is a way that many of my tumblr followers and friends in the community can help….

For my sixteenth birthday, my best friend created me a blog so that I can sell the wonderful bracelets that her and I make.  We both have been making bracelets for a few years now, and my friend is popular in the band for doing bracelet requests for events and relationships.  This is the blog :)  Alright, so I know that selling bracelets isn’t the most authentic idea, but we put a lot of work and effort into ensuring that we have a good product.  So you don’t have to buy a bracelet, but at least take a look at what we have, or maybe even refer our blog to someone who might be looking to buy some.

I am so incredibly thankful for the tumblr community because there are so many of you that have helped me get to the point that I am at now in my DCI experience.  Without the support i’ve been given over the past couple of months, I would still be at school messing around with my clarinet.  Thank you again :)

I know this blog has been inactive for a while, but for those of you who are still around, please take a look!

“Ive never felt so bad about someone I didnt know. My condolences to the Pinecrest marching band, whos drumline lost a bass drummer in a car accident this morning. Rest In Peace.”
They continued on with their competition and show, all dedicated in her honor. During the awards ceremony, they placed her bass drum on the 50 yard line in memorial. My heart goes out to the band. They did her proud.

Hello!

Just so you all know, there will be a short hiatus today and maybe tomorrow. I have some stuff I need to get done.

Happy banding!

rayciathebandgeek reblogged your post: I’ve noticed that we have a lot of Homestuck fans…
some show pictures later on then.
YES, will do! We don’t have any pictures of them yet, but after our first competition, there will most definitely be pictures.
Band Etiquette #45

Mark is a freshman member of his high school’s drumline.

One day, during rehearsal, the director unexpectedly cuts off the band in order to fix an error he heard. Unfortunately, some of the band members act like idiots, and instead of stopping, they keep playing. Some of the members do stop, but then they talk and makes tons of noise, preventing any progress from being made.

Mark sees some of his friends doing this, but Mark knows that that’s pretty fucking stupid. If the director tells you to stop playing, you need to stop playing. Don’t make this harder than it needs to be.

Instead of wasting the director’s time, Mark stops playing and remains quiet as soon as the director tells them to stop.

Good choice, Mark!

Band etiquette: real simple stuff.

I’ve noticed that we have a lot of Homestuck fans following us, so I would just like to say that our band’s colorguard flags for this year are almost the exact colors of Derse and Prospit.

Band Etiquette #44

Tony and Meagan are two juniors in their local high school’s marching band. Tony is an avid trumpet player, while Meagan prefers the clarinet.

One day, after a competition, a lot of the couples begin switching seats around so they can get in the back seats of the bus and live up to the Mean Girl’s stereotype of being “sexually active band geeks”. Tony and Meagan are quite a couple after having dated for 9 days, 4 hours, and 37 minutes, so they consider moving to the back of the band bus to MAKE OUT.

But then they both come to the conclusion that making out in the back of the band bus is a little immature, and for a couple that’s been together for 9 days, 4 hours, and 40 minutes, Meagan and Tony are pretty mature. Meagan in particular thinks that she should have some common decency and not disgust people by making out in plain sight. Besides, a chaperone might see them, which could get them into frustrating and unnecessary trouble.

So, Meagan and Tony decide to celebrate their 9 day, 4 hour, and 52 minute anniversary by sitting together and having a nice discussion about cats.

What a great couple!

Band Etiquette #43 (submitted by calibornus)

Henry is a freshman clarinet player.

Marching band rehearsal has just ended and everyone is scrambling into the band hall through the one tiny door. The pit desperately begs to be let through. Instead of climbing over the marimbas to get to his locker which is in the way anyway, Henry waits until the pit is inside to go in.

Smooth stuff, Henry.
